Vinted Users Voice Displeasure About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
